Splish Splash

Last weekend we met the Sergents at their neighborhood pool. It was the first time Avery has been swimming. She has always loved bath time so we hoped that she would love the pool as well. She had such a good time kicking and splashing. In fact, I don't think her legs stopped moving the whole time she was in the water. She didn't even seem to mind when she splashed water into her face. We can't wait to take her swimming again soon!

Happy Fourth of July

Friday afternoon we went to the Sergents for a cookout with some friends to celebrate the 4th. The little girls all looked so adorable in their red, white and blue that we couldn't resist a photo shoot. We got some cute pictures of the "A-Team" (Anna, Avery and Annelise) in Anna's new red wagon. It took all of us to get the girls all looking in somewhat the same direction at the same time. It was really pretty entertaining. We decided not to attempt going to the Mt Juliet fireworks with the little ones. So after dinner, we sat on the front porch to watch all of the neighbors set off hundreds of dollars of fireworks. Poor Anna and Annelise fell asleep and missed the whole thing. But Avery, our little night owl, did great! She sat in our laps the whole time, mesmerized by all the pretty lights.

A Visit from Grandpa and ?????

He had a great visit with Ben's parents last week. His mom has not yet decided what she wants Avery to call her. We have been trying out lots of different names. Avery's suggestions were Nga and Boog. So far, she hasn't liked any of them. So for now, she is just Missy. They got here just before Avery went to bed Tuesday night. Then they watched Avery for us Wednesday morning while I was at work and Ben was on his way back from East Tennessee. We ran a few errands Wednesday evening and then came back home for dinner. On Thursday, I had to work again but Ben was off. So they all went shopping. Missy bought Avery an adorable swimsuit, coverup and sunglasses at Gymboree. However, Avery would rather eat the glasses than wear them. We went out to Ellendale's for dinner that night. So yummy! And Friday we grilled out before they headed home that afternoon.

Happy Half Birthday!

We decided since it was Avery's half birthday, we needed to celebrate. So the Sergents brought Anna over for a little mini-party last Saturday. I made half of a birthday cake (my first attempt at cake decorating), which Avery didn't actually get to eat. She did get her own cupcake, though. My intention was to just let her play with it. But as soon as I turned my back, Ben helped her get the whole thing to her mouth. Thankfully, I think she ended up wearing more icing than she ate. Then the girls played while we chowed down on cake and ice cream.

Six Months Old

Avery turned six months old last weekend. At her six month checkup, she weighed in at 14 lbs 15 oz and is now 25 1/2 inches long. She is continuing to steadily climb up the growth chart! Taking her pictures is becoming more and more challenging each month. This month, not only did she try to eat the sign like she did last month, she also tried to pull the tablecloth off of her table and climb out of her bouncy seat. I think we still managed to get a few cute shots, though.
