Mud Wrestling, Anyone?

Ok, not really....but if you WERE looking for a good spot to mud wrestle, our front yard would have been perfect Saturday afternoon. Ben has recently been growing more and more envious of some of the perfectly manicured lawns in our neighborhood. He finally decided that ours was beyond repair. So early Saturday morning he rented a tiller and began digging it up. Everything was going smoothly until the downpour mid-afternoon that forced us to call it a day and turned our yard into one big mud pit.

That night our Sunday School class had a social at a local pizza place. So much fun! At last count, we had about 50 people there including about 16 kids! As usual, we were some of the last people to leave. Everyone who was still there decided to go to the Wickwires' for game night. Avery was up WAY past her bedtime, but she didn't seem to mind too much. However, we did learn that she does not like it at all when Mommy yells. During the brief period that the girls were winning at Trivial Pursuit, I clapped and cheered when we got the right answer to a tough question. Avery jumped about a foot and started crying inconsolably. Poor girl. I am hoping she will get over that quickly. Otherwise, she may have a tough time during football season :)

Fortunately, Sunday was a beautiful day and the yard dried out enough to get back to work. So by that evening, we (and by "we" I mean mostly Ben) had tilled the yard, hauled away the grass and rocks, tilled it again, raked it smooth, spread seed and covered it with straw. The hope is to have a beautiful lawn this time next year. Miss Avery loved hanging out on the front porch in the warm weather watching Mommy and Daddy work.
